INTRO 2015 is a showcase of the day-wear dresses designed and constructed by fashion students at the Ryerson School of Fashion. This years show is really centered around diversity. The show is quite different than most because the dresses themselves are catered to petite and plus sizes specifically (both markets that are highly overlooked by the industry), however our models are of all sizes, ethnicities, genders and more. The designers are currently second year students but the dresses were designed in their first year.
The dresses included in our show are the result of our first year of study at Ryerson. Target market research for plus and petite clothing stores informed our designs. Theme development and mood-boards were created in the Intro to Fashion Course, thus the name of the show. From there we drew our designs for our Illustration course, drafted them in pattern-making and finally brought them to life in the sewing labs as our final construction project of the year.
INTRO is a show meant to set the tone for incoming fashion students. It's also a way for them to get involved via volunteering and it's a fancy sneak peak of what they can expect to be capable of after their first year.
The show date is @ 302 Church St, Ryerson Interior Design Building.
